Also our enemies said,“ Before they know it or see us, we will be right there among them and will kill them and put an end to the work.”

And our enemies said,“ We will be right there among them. We’ll kill them. We’ll put an end to their work. We’ll do it before they even know it or see us.”

And our enemies said,“ They will not know or see till we come among them and kill them and stop the work.”

Meanwhile, our enemies were saying,“ Before they know what’s happening, we will swoop down on them and kill them and end their work.”

And our enemies said,“ They won’t realize it until we’re among them and can kill them and stop the work.”

And our enemies said,“ They will not know or see until we come among them, kill them, and put a stop to the work.”

And our adversaries said,“ They will neither know nor see anything, till we come into their midst and kill them and cause the work to cease.”

And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come into the midst of them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.

And our enemies said,“ They won’t know or see anything until we’re among them and can kill them and stop the work.”

Our adversaries also boasted,“ Before they are aware or anticipate anything, we will come in among them and kill them, and we will bring this work to a halt!”

爾勿從之、蓋有四十餘人、誓不殺保羅、不飲食、今已預備、惟在爾一言耳、

彼眾咸集、伏於歧途、瞯我出入、欲害我命兮、

以色列族使伏兵環其庇亞。越至三日、以色列族往攻便雅憫族、仍於其庇亞前陳列行伍。便雅憫族出、攻擊以色列眾、遠離其邑、至通衢二、一詣伯特利、一詣田間之其庇亞、仍殺以色列族、約三十人、自謂其族敗北如故、惟以色列族佯為逃遁、欲誘之離邑、至於通衢。時以色列族離其所、列陳於巴力大馬伏者盡出、自其庇亞平原而來。以色列族簡卒一萬、攻其庇亞、彼此鏖戰、然便雅憫族不知禍已近矣。是日耶和華助以色列族、擊便雅憫族、殺其軍旅、計二萬五千一百人。於是便雅憫族為以色列族所敗、初以色列族恃其庇亞之旁、預有伏兵、故暫避之、所伏之眾馳驟而出、整列行伍、攻其庇亞、擊之以刃。以色列族與伏兵、以邑中烟焰上騰為約。以色列族初戰時稍卻、便雅憫族自謂以色列族為己所敗、亦猶前日、故殺以色列族、約三十人、忽邑中烟焰驟起、其狀如柱、便雅憫族回顧、邑中火焰上騰。以色列族旋轅之時、便雅憫族見禍已逼、恐懼特甚、於以色列族前全軍敗績、望野而遁、以色列族追及之、四周之民各自邑出、夾而攻之、盡殺其眾。襲便雅憫族、環其四周、在其庇亞相向、日出之處、蹂躪其民、甚為易事。便雅憫族軍旅、一萬八千人、悉殲於彼。其餘反旆奔野、至臨門磐、尚在通衢、見殺者五千人、追至其頓、又殺二千人。是日便雅憫族之持兵善戰者死亡、二萬五千人。六百人不由通衢、遁逃於野、至臨門磐、居彼四月。以色列族又攻便雅憫、刃擊邑眾、及凡所遇、與其牲畜、縱火燬其諸邑。

平旦猶太人共謀、誓不殺保羅不飲食、

乘其困乏喪膽、我必涖臨、使彼戰慄、侍從必遁、我擊其王。

蓋爾詳知主日將至、猶盜乘夜猝來、

故必遭患難、昧於所從、不能自脫、災害忽臨、難以逆料。
