But while all this was going on, I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I had returned to the king. Some time later I asked his permission

But I wasn’t in Jerusalem while all of that was going on. I had returned to the Persian King Artaxerxes, the king of Babylon. I went to him in the 32nd year of his rule. Some time later I asked him to let me return to Jerusalem.

While this was taking place, I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king. And after some time I asked leave of the king

人們睡了的時候，他的仇敵來把稗子撒在麥子中間，就走了。

亞達薛西王二十年尼散月，王面前擺上了酒席，我拿酒來奉給王。我在他面前素來沒有露出愁容。

人民見摩西遲遲不下山，就聚集到亞倫那裡去，對他說：“起來，為我們做神像可以走在我們前頭領路，因為那摩西，就是把我們從埃及地領出來的那個人，我們不知道他遭遇了甚麼事。”

他們歡歡喜喜地守除酵節七天，因為耶和華使他們歡喜，又使亞述王的心轉向他們，堅固他們的手作以色列神殿的工程。

然後對王說：“如果王認為好，僕人能在你面前蒙恩寵，就請你差派我往猶大，到我列祖墳墓所在的城去，讓我重建那城。”那時，王后坐在王的旁邊。王問我：“你的行程需時多久？你甚麼時候回來？”王既然認為好，就差派我去，我也定了一個歸期。
