“ The rest of the people— priests, Levites, gatekeepers, musicians, temple servants and all who separated themselves from the neighboring peoples for the sake of the Law of God, together with their wives and all their sons and daughters who are able to understand—

The rest of the people gathered together. They included the priests, the Levites and the men who guarded the gates. They included the musicians and temple servants. They also included all the people who separated themselves from the surrounding nations to obey the Law of God. All these men brought their wives with them. And they brought all their sons and daughters who were old enough to understand what was being agreed to.

“ The rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all who have separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, their daughters, all who have knowledge and understanding,

Then the rest of the people— the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, Temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the pagan people of the land in order to obey the Law of God, together with their wives, sons, daughters, and all who were old enough to understand—

以色列的后裔跟所有外族人分离，然后站立，承认自己的罪过和他们列祖的罪孽。

你们和不信的人不可共负一轭，义和不法有什么相同呢？光明和黑暗怎能相通呢？基督和彼列（“彼列”是撒但的别名）怎能和谐呢？信的和不信的有什么联系呢？神的殿和偶像怎能协调呢？我们就是永生神的殿，正如神说：“我要住在他们中间，在他们中间来往；我要作他们的神，他们要作我的子民。”所以，“主说：你们要从他们中间出来，和他们分开，不可触摸不洁净的东西，我就收纳你们。”

众民听见了这律法，就跟一切闲杂人分离。

如果你凭真理、公正、公义，指着永活的耶和华起誓；列国就必因耶和华蒙福，也必以他为荣。”

七月初一日，以斯拉祭司把律法书带到所有听了能明白的男女会众面前。

在神面前不可冒失开口，心急发言，因为神在天上，你在地上，所以你的言语要寡少。（本节在《马索拉文本》为5:1）

“完成这些事以后，众领袖前来见我，说：‘以色列民、祭司和利未人没有从当地的民族中分别出来，他们随从迦南人、赫人、比利洗人、耶布斯人、亚扪人、摩押人、埃及人和亚摩利人行可憎的事。他们为自己和自己的儿子娶了这些外族的女子为妻，以致圣洁的种族与当地的民族混杂了；而领袖和官长竟是这不忠的事的罪魁。’

但我对你们说过，你们要承受他们的土地；我要把这流奶与蜜之地，赐给你们作产业。我是耶和华你们的神，把你们从万民中分别出来。

其余的人民捐献金子一百六十八公斤，银子一千一百四十公斤、祭司的礼服六十七件。于是祭司、利未人、守门的、歌唱者、一部分人民、作殿役的，和以色列众人都住在自己的城里。

现在你们要向耶和华你们列祖的神认罪，遵行他所喜悦的旨意，与这地的民族和外族的女子分离。”全体会众都大声回答说：“你怎么说，我们就怎么行。可是人太多，又逢下大雨的季节，我们不能停留在外面；这又不是一两天可以完成的事，因为我们很多人在这事上犯了罪！让我们的领袖代表全体会众站在耶和华面前，所有在我们的城中娶了外族女子为妻的人，也都要在指定的日期，与本城的长老和审判官一起来，解决了这事，好使神因这事所发的烈怒离开我们。”只有亚撒黑的儿子约拿单和特瓦的儿子雅哈谢起来反对这提议，还有米书兰和利未人沙比太支持他们。于是，被掳归回的人就这样行。以斯拉祭司提名选派了一些人，是各宗族的族长，于十月初一他们一同坐下来查办这事。直到正月初一，他们才完成审查所有娶了外族的女子为妻的人。在祭司子孙中，娶了外族的女子为妻的有耶书亚的子孙，约萨达的儿子和他的兄弟玛西雅、以利以谢、雅立、基大利。他们举手起誓要送走他们的妻子，并献赎罪祭。他们就献上一只公绵羊，作他们的赎罪祭。

于是祭司、利未人、歌唱者、守门的、作殿役的，和一部分人民住在城里；以色列众人都住在自己的城里。

因为神是全地的王，你们要用诗歌歌颂他。
