Hanani, one of my brothers, came from Judah with some other men, and I questioned them about the Jewish remnant that had survived the exile, and also about Jerusalem.

At that time Hanani came from Judah with some other men. He was one of my brothers. I asked him and the other men about the Jews who were left alive in Judah. They had returned from Babylon. I also asked him about Jerusalem.

但如今我們的上帝耶和華暫且施恩於我們，為我們存留一些餘民，使我們安然住在這聖潔之地。你使我們眼睛明亮，在我們受奴役時賜給我們一點生機。雖然我們是奴隸，我們的上帝卻沒有離棄受奴役的我們，祂在波斯眾王面前施恩於我們，使我們復興、得以重建毀壞的上帝的殿，讓我們在猶大和耶路撒冷有護牆。

那日，倖存的人必來告訴你這個消息。那時，你必開口向那人說話，不再沉默。你必成為他們的預兆，他們就知道我是耶和華。」

要為耶路撒冷的和平禱告，願愛這城的人亨通。耶路撒冷啊！願你城內有平安，你的宮裡有安寧，為了我的親人和朋友，我要祈求平安臨到你。為了我們的上帝耶和華的殿，我要為你求福祉。

他們必在被擄的異地想起我怎樣為他們憂傷，因為他們背叛我，心中淫亂，眼中戀慕與偶像苟合。他們必因自己的一切邪惡行為而厭惡自己。

僥倖逃到山上的，都必像谷中哀鳴的鴿子，為自己的罪惡哭泣。

我們豈能再違背你的誡命，與這些行為可憎的人通婚？若我們這樣行，你豈不發怒毀滅我們，使我們無一倖免嗎？
