The Lord will restore the splendor of Jacob like the splendor of Israel, though destroyers have laid them waste and have ruined their vines.

Assyria once took everything of value from God’s people. Its army destroyed all their vines. But the Lord will bring back the glory of Jacob’s people. He’ll make Israel glorious again.

今曷毀其藩籬、任為路人折取兮、林豕食之、野獸囓之兮、

昔爾緣我聖山、心志驕侈、獲罪於我、越至後日、我必使爾不復若此、以取辱、

不復事偶像、以玷其身、不作非義、為我痛疾、四境之內、彼素作惡、我必加拯救、使成潔清、可為我民、我為其上帝、

昔爾見棄被惡、人蹤罕至、後必使爾輝煌有耀、喜樂靡涯、歷世弗替、

約瑟如蔥蘢之樹、植於泉旁、其枝蔓延踰垣。昔約瑟為矢人所困、爭競而窘遂之。

我震怒斯民、使亞述人、為杖箠以擊之、亞述人亦有禍矣、我民偽善、我必震怒、使亞述人擊之、攘奪其貨、蹂躪其身、若逵衢之糞壤。亞述人之所為、非欲成我之志、其意乃為翦滅列邦。彼曰我之牧伯、可儗列王、我滅甲呢若迦基密、滅哈末若亞八、滅撒馬利亞、若大馬色、列國之偶像、較耶路撒冷、撒馬利亞尤眾、亦為我所翦滅。撒馬利亞我已滅其國家、毀其偶像、豈不能以此待耶路撒冷乎。主曰、我降災於郇山、及耶路撒冷、既畢其事、我必伐亞述王、汰其驕心、去其抑視。

如摘葡萄、必有所遺、如盜賊夜至、必饜其所欲而後已。

我既降災於斯邑、及籲我名之所、爾豈能免於患難、今以鋒刃、遍擊天下億兆、爾豈能逭厥刑罰。
