The Lord will restore the splendor of Jacob like the splendor of Israel, though destroyers have laid them waste and have ruined their vines.

Assyria once took everything of value from God’s people. Its army destroyed all their vines. But the Lord will bring back the glory of Jacob’s people. He’ll make Israel glorious again.

For the Lord is restoring the majesty of Jacob as the majesty of Israel, for plunderers have plundered them and ruined their branches.

Even though the destroyer has destroyed Judah, the Lord will restore its honor. Israel’s vine has been stripped of branches, but he will restore its splendor.

耶和華說：「亞述王有禍了！他是我的憤怒之棍，他手中拿著我發烈怒的杖。我要差遣他去攻打一個不虔敬的國家，一個惹我發怒的民族，去搶奪、擄掠他們的財物，像踐踏街上的泥土一樣踐踏他們。可是他卻不這樣想，心裡也不這樣盤算，他只想毀滅許多國家。他說，『我的臣僕都要做藩王！迦勒挪豈不是和迦基米施一樣嗎？哈馬豈不是和亞珥拔一樣嗎？撒瑪利亞豈不是和大馬士革一樣嗎？它們不是都被我征服了嗎？這些國家都在我的手中，他們雕刻的偶像不勝過耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的偶像嗎？我怎樣毀滅撒瑪利亞和它的偶像，也必怎樣毀滅耶路撒冷和它的偶像。』」主完成在錫安山和耶路撒冷要做的事後，必懲罰心裡狂妄、眼目高傲的亞述王。

人們來以東摘葡萄，不會摘盡；盜賊夜間來偷東西，不會偷光。

看啊，我已在屬我的城中降下災禍，難道你們可以逃脫懲罰嗎？你們必逃不過懲罰，因為我要使戰爭臨到天下萬民。』這是萬軍之耶和華說的。

以色列是茂盛的葡萄樹，碩果纍纍。可是，他結果越多，建造的祭壇就越多；土地出產越豐富，他就把神柱裝飾得越美麗。
