從此以後，耶穌開始清楚地指示門徒，祂必須去耶路撒冷，受長老、祭司長和律法教師許多的迫害，並且被處死，但第三天必從死裡復活。

「你們要留意，我們現在前往耶路撒冷，人子將被交給祭司長和律法教師。他們要判祂死刑，把祂交給外族人，受嘲弄、鞭打，被釘在十字架上。但第三天祂必復活。」

耶穌回答說：「以利亞固然要先來復興一切，但為什麼聖經上說人子一定會飽受痛苦、遭人蔑視呢？

從此，耶穌便告訴他們，人子必須受許多苦，被長老、祭司長和律法教師棄絕，殺害，但必在三天之後復活。

耶穌對他們說：「我跟你們在一起的時候曾經說過，摩西的律法書、先知的書以及詩篇裡有關我的記載都要應驗。」於是，耶穌開啟了他們的心竅，使他們明白這些經文，又對他們說：「聖經上說，基督必受害，然後在第三天從死裡復活，

基督豈不是要先這樣受害，然後進入祂的榮耀嗎？」

「你們知道，兩天後就是逾越節，到時人子會被出賣，被釘在十字架上。」

然而，那些佃戶看見園主的兒子來了，就商量說，『這是園主的繼承人。來吧！我們殺掉他，佔了他的產業！』於是，他們抓住他，把他推出園外殺了。

耶穌把十二使徒帶到一邊，對他們說：「你們要留意，我們現在前往耶路撒冷，先知書上有關人子的記載都要應驗，人子將被交在外族人的手裡，被他們嘲弄、虐待、吐唾沫、鞭打和殺害，但第三天祂必復活。」

正如人子不是來受人服侍，而是來服侍人，並且犧牲性命，作許多人的贖價。」

上帝照著自己的計劃和預知把耶穌交在你們手裡，你們藉著邪惡之人的手把祂釘死在十字架上了。但上帝為祂解除了死亡的痛苦，使祂從死裡復活，因為祂不可能被死亡拘禁。

沒有人能奪走我的生命，我是甘心捨棄的。我有權捨棄，也有權得回，這是我從父那裡得到的命令。」

摩西在曠野怎樣舉起銅蛇，人子也必照樣被舉起來，

「果然如此，希律和本丟·彼拉多、外族人和以色列聚集在這城裡，要對抗你膏立的聖子耶穌，然而他們所做的只不過是你憑自己的能力和旨意所預定的。

「你們要牢記人子所說的話，因為祂將要被交到人的手裡。」

耶穌回答說：「你們拆毀這座殿，我三天之內會把它重建起來。」

我們若忍耐到底，就必與祂一同作王。我們若不承認祂，祂也必不承認我們。
