眾人聽見這些話，心中極其惱怒，向司提反咬牙切齒。

門徒私下進前來問耶穌：「我們為甚麼不能趕出那鬼呢？」耶穌對他們說：「是因你們的信心小。我實在告訴你們，你們若有信心像一粒芥菜種，就是對這座山說：『你從這邊移到那邊』，它也會移過去，並且你們沒有一件不能做的事了。」

有一個迦南婦人從那地方出來，喊着說：「主啊，大衛之子，可憐我！我女兒被鬼纏得很苦。」

耶穌進了屋子，門徒就私下問他：「我們為甚麼不能趕出那靈呢？」耶穌對他們說：「非用禱告，這一類的邪靈總趕不出來。」

那靈大喊一聲，使孩子猛烈地抽了一陣風，就出來了。孩子好像死了一般，以致眾人多半說：「他死了。」

他被靈拿住就突然喊叫，那靈又使他抽風，口吐白沫，並且重重地傷害他，不輕易放過他。我求過你的門徒把那靈趕出去，他們卻不能。」

本國的子民反而被趕到外邊黑暗裏去，在那裏要哀哭切齒了。」

惡人看見就憤怒，必咬牙而消亡，惡人的心願要歸於幻滅。

以利沙吩咐基哈西說：「你束上腰，手拿我的杖前去。若遇見人，不要向他問安，人若向你問安，也不要回答。要把我的杖放在孩子臉上。」孩子的母親說：「我指着永生的耶和華，又指着你的性命起誓，我必不離開你。」於是以利沙起身，隨着她去了。基哈西在他們以先去了，把杖放在孩子臉上，卻沒有聲音，也沒有動靜。基哈西回去，迎見以利沙，告訴他說：「孩子還沒有醒過來。」

神發怒撕裂我，逼迫我，向我咬牙切齒；我的敵人怒目瞪我。

我帶他到你門徒那裏，他們卻不能醫治他。」

他們就帶了他來。那靈一見耶穌，就使他重重地抽風，倒在地上，翻來覆去，口吐白沫。

是海裏的狂浪，湧出自己可恥的沫子來；是流蕩的星，有漆黑的幽暗永遠為他們保留着。
