Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said:“ Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

Then Jesus called the crowd, along with his disciples, and said to them,“ If anyone wants to become my follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.

He called the multitude to himself with his disciples, and said to them,“ Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. (niv)

For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like those condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to human beings.We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored!To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless.We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;when we are slandered, we answer kindly. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world— right up to this moment. Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. (niv)

Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church. (niv)

Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him,“ Follow me!”Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them.( This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said,“ Lord, who is going to betray you?”) (niv)

because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. (niv)

If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. (niv)

We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. (niv)

Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall. (niv)

Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. (niv)

Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said,“ Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. (niv)
