Then he appeared to the eleven themselves, while they were eating, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen him resurrected.

Why, LORD, do you make us stray from your ways, and make our minds stubborn so that we do not obey you? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your inheritance!

After looking around at them in anger, grieved by the hardness of their hearts, he said to the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

So he said to them,“ You foolish people– how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

He said to them,“ Are you so foolish? Don’t you understand that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him?

Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?Or the seven loaves for the four thousand and how many baskets you took up?How could you not understand that I was not speaking to you about bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”

What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was diligently seeking, but the elect obtained it. The rest were hardened,
