是人素居墓中、雖鐵索亦不足以繫之、

This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain.

The man lived in the tombs. No one could keep him tied up anymore. Not even a chain could hold him.

He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain,

This man lived in the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain.

You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.”Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like the ox. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird. (niv)

For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places. (niv)

Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”“ You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied,“ how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.Jesus asked the boy’s father,“ How long has he been like this?”“ From childhood,” he answered.“ It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” (niv)
