又对他们说：“在安息日哪一样是可以作的呢：作好事还是坏事？救命还是害命？”他们一声不响。

耶稣问他们：“在安息日可以行善还是作恶，救命还是害命？”他们却不做声。

Then Jesus asked them,“ Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.

Then Jesus asked them,“ What does the Law say we should do on the Sabbath day? Should we do good? Or should we do evil? Should we save life? Or should we kill?” But no one answered.

And he said to them,“ Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.

Then he turned to his critics and asked,“ Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him.

Then he said to them,“ Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.

And He* said to them,“ Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do harm, to save a life or to kill?” But they kept silent.

And he saith unto them, Is it lawful on the sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

耶穌乃謂若輩曰：『試問禮日宜行善乎？抑作惡乎？宜救生乎？抑害命乎？』

適有枯一手者在焉。或試耶穌曰：『禮日可治病乎？』將欲假端以攻之。耶穌曰：『爾曹孰有一羊禮日墮坑、而不即援之以出乎？人之貴於羊也、不亦多乎？是故禮日行善宜也。』

禮日、耶穌入法利塞總董家用膳、眾目注之、欲覘其動靜。適有一患蠱者在焉。耶穌乃詰經生及法利塞人曰：『禮日治病宜乎？否乎？』眾皆嘿然。耶穌乃撫而療之遣之去。復詰若輩曰：『爾中孰有一驢或一牛、禮日墮井、而不即曳之使出者乎？』

又曰：『禮日之立為人、而非人為禮日；夫人子固禮日之主也。』

遂撫以手；婦立即伸舒自如、而頌天主之德。顧會董以耶穌禮日治病、憾之、乃告眾曰：『六日之中、儘可工作、爾來就醫可也。毋在安息之日為之。』主應之曰：『虛偽之人、爾中誰有禮日不解牛驢出廄、而引之飲水乎？今此婦乃亞伯漢之女、為魔所困者、已十八年於茲矣。孰云安息之日、不宜釋其所縛乎？』耶穌言時、諸仇慚恧、而眾人則因其所行非凡之事、而為之歡欣鼓舞。

徒皆默然。蓋途中曾彼此爭長。
