And he said unto them, Did ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he, and they that were with him?

耶穌對他們說：『大衛（本人和跟隨他的人）缺乏而餓着的時候所作的，你們從沒誦讀過麼？

耶穌對他們說：「大衛和那些與他在一起的人飢餓缺乏時所做的事，難道你們從來沒有讀過嗎？

耶穌曰、爾未讀大衛與從者匱而飢時所為乎、

耶穌曰、爾不知大闢及從人乏食、饑時所行乎、

耶穌曰、經載大衛及從者乏食、饑時所行之事、爾未讀之乎、

對曰：『經載大維及從者飢時所為事、爾豈未寓目耶？

He answered,“ Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?

He answered,“ Haven’t you ever read about what David did? He and his men were hungry. They needed food.

And he said to them,“ Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him:

Now therefore what is under thy hand? give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or whatsoever there is present.And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women.And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days; when I came out, the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was but a common journey; how much more then to- day shall their vessels be holy?So the priest gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before Jehovah, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.

And he said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

and said unto him, Hearest thou what these are saying? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea: did ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; This was from the Lord, And it is marvellous in our eyes?

And he answered and said, Have ye not read, that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female,

But as touching the dead, that they are raised; have ye not read in the book of Moses, in the place concerning the Bush, how God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

There were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed;
