她们这些话，使徒以为是胡言，就不相信。

他们去告诉其余的门徒，那些门徒还是不信。〕〔后来十一使徒坐席的时候，耶稣向他们显现，责备他们不信，心里刚硬，因为他们不信那些在他复活以后看见他的人。

不见他的身体，就回来告诉我们，说她们看见了天使显现，说他活了。又有我们的几个人往坟墓那里去，所发现的正如妇女们所说的，只是没有看见他。”耶稣对他们说：“无知的人哪，先知所说的一切话，你们的心信得太迟钝了。基督不是必须受这些苦难，然后进入他的荣耀吗？”于是，他从摩西和众先知起，凡经上所指着自己的话都给他们作了解释。他们走近所要去的村子，耶稣好像还要往前走，他们却强留他说：“时候晚了，天快黑了，请你同我们住下吧。”耶稣就进去，要同他们住下。坐下来和他们用餐的时候，耶稣拿起饼来，祝福了，擘开，递给他们。他们的眼睛开了，这才认出他来。耶稣却从他们眼前消失了。他们彼此说：“在路上他和我们说话，给我们讲解圣经的时候，我们的心在我们里面岂不是火热的吗？”于是他们立刻起身，回耶路撒冷去，看见十一个使徒和与他们正在一起的人聚集在一处，说：“主果然复活了，已经显现给西门看了。”于是，两个人把路上所遇到，和耶稣擘饼的时候怎么被他们认出来的事，都述说了一遍。

耶稣回答：“唉！这不信的世代啊，我和你们在一起要到几时呢？我忍耐你们要到几时呢？把他带到我这里！”

我若呼求，纵然他应允我，我仍不信他会侧耳听我的声音。

摩西把这话告诉以色列人，但是他们因心里愁烦，又因苦工，就不肯听摩西的话。
