適有巴總在側、見耶穌臨終時情形、乃曰：『斯人真天主子也！』

And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said,“ Surely this man was the Son of God!”

Pilate was surprised that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had already died.When he found out from the centurion, he gave the corpse to Joseph.

But the centurion kept them from carrying out their plan because he wanted to save Paul, and so he ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land.
