適有巴總在側、見耶穌臨終時情形、乃曰：『斯人真天主子也！』

看守耶穌的百夫長和士兵看見地震及所發生的一切，都很害怕，說：「這人真是上帝的兒子啊！」

百夫長見此情形，便讚美上帝，說：「這人的確是個義人。」圍觀的人見狀，無不捶胸頓足黯然離去。

祂說信靠上帝，如果上帝喜悅祂，就讓上帝來救祂吧！因為祂自稱是上帝的兒子。」

他們決定讓我們坐船去義大利，於是將保羅和其他囚犯都交給一位皇家兵團的百夫長猶流看管。有一艘亞大米田的船準備沿著亞細亞海岸航行。我們上船啟航，同船的還有帖撒羅尼迦的馬其頓人亞里達古。第二天，船停泊在西頓港，猶流寬待保羅，准他探望當地的朋友，接受他們的照應。

在凱撒利亞有一位隸屬義大利營的百夫長名叫哥尼流。

耶穌到了迦百農，一個百夫長前來向祂求助，說：「主啊，我的僕人癱瘓，躺在家裡，非常痛苦。」耶穌說：「我這就去醫治他。」百夫長說：「主啊，我不配讓你親自來我家。你只要說一句話，我僕人就會痊癒。因為我有上司，也有部下。我命令我的部下去，他就去；要他來，他就來。我吩咐僕人做什麼事，他一定照辦。」耶穌聽了，感到驚奇，便對跟隨祂的人說：「我實在告訴你們，我在以色列從未見過信心這麼大的人。

彼拉多聽見耶穌已經死了，十分驚訝，便把百夫長召來問個明白，得知耶穌確實已死，便將耶穌的遺體交給約瑟。

但百夫長為了救保羅，不准他們輕舉妄動，下令會游泳的先跳到海裡游上岸。
