坐中有人不悅曰：『胡此浪費！

Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another,“ Why this waste of perfume?

Some of the people there became angry. They said to one another,“ Why waste this perfume?

There were some who said to themselves indignantly,“ Why was the ointment wasted like that?

Some of those at the table were indignant.“ Why waste such expensive perfume?” they asked.

But some were expressing indignation to one another:“ Why has this perfume been wasted?

But there were some indignantly remarking to one another,“ Why has this perfume been wasted?

But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said,“ Why was this fragrant oil wasted?

But there were some that had indignation among themselves, saying, To what purpose hath this waste of the ointment been made?

When the disciples saw this, they were indignant.“ Why this waste?” they asked.“ This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” (niv)

“ But you profane it by saying,‘ The Lord’s table is defiled,’ and,‘ Its food is contemptible.’And you say,‘ What a burden!’ and you sniff at it contemptuously,” says the Lord Almighty.“ When you bring injured, lame or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?” says the Lord. When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow.It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it.Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger,“ My vow was a mistake.” Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands?Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore fear God.If you see the poor oppressed in a district, and justice and rights denied, do not be surprised at such things; for one official is eyed by a higher one, and over them both are others higher still. And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. (niv)
