及返、見諸徒皆睡、呼伯鐸祿曰：『西門睡耶？竟弗克儆守半晷！

Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping.“ Simon,” he said to Peter,“ are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour?

They appeared in glorious splendor and spoke about his departure that he was about to carry out at Jerusalem.Now Peter and those with him were quite sleepy, but as they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.

Think of him who endured such opposition against himself by sinners, so that you may not grow weary in your souls and give up.

Absalom said to Hushai,“ Do you call this loyalty to your friend? Why didn’t you go with your friend?”

Peter said to him,“ Even if they all fall away, I will not!”Jesus said to him,“ I tell you the truth, today– this very night– before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”But Peter insisted emphatically,“ Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you.” And all of them said the same thing.

When he came again he found them sleeping; they could not keep their eyes open. And they did not know what to tell him.He came a third time and said to them,“ Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough of that! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

When he got up from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, exhausted from grief.So he said to them,“ Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation!”

When the bridegroom was delayed a long time, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

The LORD answered,“ If you have raced on foot against men and they have worn you out, how will you be able to compete with horses? And if you feel secure only in safe and open country, how will you manage in the thick undergrowth along the Jordan River?

So then we must not sleep as the rest, but must stay alert and sober.For those who sleep, sleep at night and those who get drunk are drunk at night.But since we are of the day, we must stay sober by putting on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet our hope for salvation.

The ship’s captain approached him and said,“ What are you doing asleep? Get up! Cry out to your god! Perhaps your god might take notice of us so that we might not die!”
