若不是主减少那日子，凡有血气的，总没有一个得救的；只是为主的选民，他将那日子减少了。

主若不減其時日、則血氣之倫、將無遺孑！惟為選民之故、主必減之耳。

“ If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.

耶和华如此说：“葡萄中寻得新酒，人就说：‘不要毁坏，因为福在其中。’我因我仆人的缘故也必照样而行，不将他们全然毁灭。我必从雅各中领出后裔，从犹大中领出承受我众山的。我的选民必承受；我的仆人要在那里居住。

就着福音说，他们为你们的缘故是仇敌；就着拣选说，他们为列祖的缘故是蒙爱的。因为神的恩赐和选召是没有后悔的。你们从前不顺服神，如今因他们的不顺服，你们倒蒙了怜恤。这样，他们也是不顺服，叫他们因着施给你们的怜恤，现在也就蒙怜恤。因为神将众人都圈在不顺服之中，特意要怜恤众人。

耶和华说：“这全地的人，三分之二必剪除而死，三分之一仍必存留。我要使这三分之一经火，熬炼他们，如熬炼银子；试炼他们，如试炼金子。他们必求告我的名，我必应允他们。我要说：‘这是我的子民。’他们也要说：‘耶和华是我们的神。’”

境内剩下的人若还有十分之一，也必被吞灭，像栗树、橡树虽被砍伐，树墩子却仍存留。这圣洁的种类在国中也是如此。”

而且他们若不是长久不信，仍要被接上，因为神能够把他们重新接上。你是从那天生的野橄榄上砍下来的，尚且逆着性得接在好橄榄上，何况这本树的枝子，要接在本树上呢！

如今也是这样，照着拣选的恩典，还有所留的余数。既是出于恩典，就不在乎行为；不然，恩典就不是恩典了。这是怎么样呢？以色列人所求的，他们没有得着。惟有蒙拣选的人得着了；其余的就成了顽梗不化的。

若不是万军之耶和华给我们稍留余种，我们早已像所多玛、蛾摩拉的样子了。
