民曰我欲崇拜至上之上帝耶和華、當獻何物、豈可以燔祭盈歲之犢、臚陳於前哉、抑耶和華將以牡綿羊數千為悅、或以萬溪流油為悅、我當以初產之嬰孩、贖我愆尤、抑以親生之骨肉、贖我邪念乎。曰人所當為者、言之已彰彰矣、耶和華願爾無他、惟秉公義、矜憫為懷、退抑以事上帝。

我欲矜恤、不欲祭祀、寧崇我道、毋獻燔祭、

撒母耳曰、耶和華豈以燔祭禮物為喜、不以聽從其命為喜乎。夫聽命較獻祭尤善、遵言較羊脂愈美。

我欲矜恤、不欲祭祀、其意云何、爾如知此、則不擬無罪者矣、

但往學我欲矜恤、不欲祭祀之語、其意何歟、蓋我來、非招義人、乃招罪人悔改耳、○

昔爾燔祭、恆獻禮物、我不以此罪爾兮、爾宅有牛、爾牢有羊、我不取之兮、林中百獸、萬山群畜、俱屬我兮、曠野禽獸、我所諳悉、天下萬物、咸歸於我、如我載飢、毋庸告爾兮、

我如能言諸國方言、與天使之言、而無仁、則猶鳴金敲鈸、雖能先知、探奧、識理、且篤信得以移山、而無仁、則無益、雖罄所有以濟貧、舍身自焚、而無仁、則無益、

耶和華曰、恆獻禮物、與我何與、爾燔牡綿羊、焚肥畜之膋、我所厭惡、牛犢羔羊、牡山羊之血、我不悅懌。爾來覲我、穢我帷場、誰命之者。毋徒獻禮物、若馨香、月朔、安息日、聖會大日、俱我所厭棄、爾守節期、又復為惡、故我不悅。朔日節期、我心痛疾、我視若重負而厭之。爾曹殺人、雖舉手禱告弗輟、我必不俯聞、而遐棄爾。當盥手潔心、滌爾污俗、棄惡歸善、公義是行、受人虐遇者、必加援手、孤子嫠婦、必伸其冤。

凡頌美予者、彰我之榮、謹飭之士、予必救之兮。

爾禁食之時、卑以自牧、屈抑若蘆、身衣麻布、坐於塗炭、我耶和華豈悅此乎。為強暴故拘繫者、當縱之自逸、釋人重負、伸人屈抑、折人衡軛、禁食若此、我何不喜。饑者食之、貧者寓之、裸者衣之、戚屬遭難、毋掩面而不睹。

大公是秉、愈於獻祭、耶和華所悅。

爾設節期、我所深憾、爾立大會、我甚不悅、雖獻燔祭禮物、我不悅納、雖供肥犢為酬恩之祭、我不眷顧、謳歌之聲、撤於我前、琴瑟之音、我不欲聞、宜行公平、有如川流、當為仁義、溥若淵泉。

以色列族之上帝、萬有之主、耶和華曰、燔祭之肉、爾可食之、與禮物無異。昔我導爾祖出埃及、我諭以命、不第為燔祭禮物也、我所諭者、及使其敬聽我言、我必為其上帝、彼將為我民、如遵我命、必獲享通。

上既言牲牷祭祀爾不欲、燔祭贖罪爾不喜、此皆遵律法而獻者、
