耶穌進了耶路撒冷，全城都驚動了，說：「這是誰？」眾人說：「這是從加利利的拿撒勒來的先知耶穌。」耶穌進了聖殿，趕出聖殿裏所有在做買賣的人，推倒兌換銀錢之人的桌子和賣鴿子之人的凳子，對他們說：「經上記着：『我的殿要稱為禱告的殿，你們倒使它成為賊窩了。』」在聖殿裏有盲人和瘸子到耶穌跟前，他就治好了他們。祭司長和文士看見耶穌所行的奇事，又見小孩子在聖殿裏喊着說：「和散那歸於大衛之子！」就很生氣，對他說：「這些人所喊的，你聽到了嗎？」耶穌對他們說：「聽到了。經上說：『你藉孩童和吃奶的口發出完全的讚美』，你們沒有念過嗎？」於是他離開他們，出城到伯大尼去，在那裏過夜。

那時，我必用燈巡查耶路撒冷，懲罰那些沉湎在酒渣上的人；他們心裏說：『耶和華必不降福，也不降禍。』

耶穌快到耶路撒冷，看見那城，就為它哀哭，說：「但願你在這日子知道有關你平安的事，不過這事現在是隱藏的，你的眼睛看不出來。因為日子將到，你的仇敵要築起土壘包圍你，四面困住你，並要消滅你和你裏頭的兒女，連一塊石頭也不留在另一塊石頭上，因為你不知道你蒙眷顧的時候。」耶穌一進聖殿就趕出在裏面做買賣的人，

萬軍之耶和華說：「看哪，我要差遣我的使者在我前面預備道路。你們所尋求的主必忽然來到他的殿；立約的使者，就是你們所仰慕的，看哪，快要來到。」
