人多斥之、令勿喧。而彼更抗喉疾呼曰：『大維子、祈垂憐焉。』

Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many people commanded him to stop. They told him to be quiet. But he shouted even louder,“ Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

“ Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many warned him to keep quiet, but he was crying out all the more,“ Have mercy on me, Son of David!”

Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put[ his] hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord,[ thou] Son of David.

While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s[ house certain] which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast[ it] unto the dogs.And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.

And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast[ it] to dogs.And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great[ is] thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

And he spake a parable unto them[ to this end], that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Also unto thee, O Lord,[ belongeth] mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

And ye shall seek me, and find[ me], when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more,[ Thou] Son of David, have mercy on me.

And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.And he said unto him, What[ is] thy name? And he said, Jacob.And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
