眾責之、使緘默、彼愈呼曰、大衛之裔、矜恤我、

眾斥之、使緘默、彼愈呼曰、大衛之裔、矜憐我、

人多斥之、令勿喧。而彼更抗喉疾呼曰：『大維子、祈垂憐焉。』

Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many people commanded him to stop. They told him to be quiet. But he shouted even louder,“ Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

“ Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many warned him to keep quiet, but he was crying out all the more,“ Have mercy on me, Son of David!”

Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And many rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

Many people told him to keep quiet, but he was crying out all the more,“ Have mercy on me, Son of David!”

And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal,[ Thou] Son of David, have mercy on me.

Many scolded him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many rebuked him, that he should be quiet, but he cried out much more,“ You son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. (niv)

The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder,“ Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” (niv)

While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.“ Your daughter is dead,” they said.“ Why bother the teacher anymore?” (niv)

The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.“ First let the children eat all they want,” he told her,“ for it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”“ Lord,” she replied,“ even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”Then he told her,“ For such a reply, you may go; the demon has left your daughter.” (niv)

Then Jesus said to them,“ Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say,‘ Friend, lend me three loaves of bread;a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’And suppose the one inside answers,‘ Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.“ So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (niv)

During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. (niv)

Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him,“ Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”He answered,“ I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”The woman came and knelt before him.“ Lord, help me!” she said.He replied,“ It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”“ Yes it is, Lord,” she said.“ Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”Then Jesus said to her,“ Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment. (niv)

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.He said:“ In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought.And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea,‘ Grant me justice against my adversary.’“ For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself,‘ Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think,yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”And the Lord said,“ Listen to what the unjust judge says.And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (niv)

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (niv)

and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”; and,“ You reward everyone according to what they have done.” (niv)

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (niv)

Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!” (niv)

So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak.When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.Then the man said,“ Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”The man asked him,“ What is your name?”“ Jacob,” he answered.Then the man said,“ Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.” (niv)
