Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle. (niv)

This is what the Lord says:“ Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, (niv)

I have no place to store my crops.’“ Then he said,‘ This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.And I’ll say to myself,“ You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’“ This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” (niv)

Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of the Lord’s wrath.” In the fire of his jealousy the whole earth will be consumed, for he will make a sudden end of all who live on the earth. (niv)

Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them. (niv)

The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale. (niv)

Dear children, keep yourselves from idols. (niv)

By your hand save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones. (niv)

those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches?No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them— (niv)

My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, (niv)
