彼所為善者、等諸蒺藜、彼所為義者、同於荊棘、先知所言之災、其日伊邇、庶民潰亂、

彼所謂善者、等諸荊棘、彼所謂正者、同於蒺藜、或作彼之最善義者惟如荊棘彼之最正直者但如蒺藜爾中先知所言之日、即爾受罰之日速至、是時眾俱荒亂、

The best of them is like a brier, the most upright worse than a thorn hedge. The day God visits you has come, the day your watchmen sound the alarm. Now is the time of your confusion.

The best of these people are as harmful as thorns. The most honest of them are even worse. God has come to punish you. The time your prophets warned you about has come. Panic has taken hold of you.

Even the best of them is like a brier; the most honest is as dangerous as a hedge of thorns. But your judgment day is coming swiftly now. Your time of punishment is here, a time of confusion.

因為主萬軍之耶和華使“異象谷”有驚恐、踐踏、混亂的日子：城牆被拆毀，哀聲傳到山上。

“人子啊！至於你，雖然荊棘和蒺藜在你周圍，你又住在蠍子群中，你不要怕他們，也不要怕他們講的話。他們原是叛逆的民族，你總不要怕他們講的話，在他們面前，也不要驚惶。

流氓卻像荊棘被丟棄，人不敢用手拿它。人要碰它，必須帶備鐵器和槍桿，他們要在原地被火徹底燒毀。”

到降罰的日子，有災禍從遠方來到，那時你們要怎樣行呢？你們可以向誰逃奔求助呢？你們可以把你們的財寶撇在哪裡呢？

因此，你要對他們說：主耶和華這樣說：‘我必使這一句俗語不再流行，在以色列中，人必不再引用這句俗語。’你卻要對他們說：‘日子臨近了，所有異象都必應驗。’從此，在以色列家中必不再有虛假的異象和奉承的占卜。

耶和華說：‘他們行了可憎的事，本應覺得羞愧，可是他們一點羞愧都沒有，恬不知恥。因此他們必仆倒在倒下的人中間；我懲罰他們的時候，他們必倒下來。

松樹要長起來代替荊棘，番石榴要長起來代替蒺藜。這要為耶和華留名，作永遠不能廢掉的記號。”

偶像都是虛無的，是荒謬可笑的作品；到了討罪的時候，它們必被除滅。

“日月星辰將有異兆；在地上，各國也要因著海洋波濤的咆哮而困苦不安。

懲罰的日子臨近，報應的時候來到，以色列必定知道，因著你們眾多的罪孽和深仇大恨，先知被看為愚昧，受靈感動的人被當作瘋子。先知與神一同作以法蓮的守望者，在他所行的一切路上，都滿有捕鳥人的網羅，在他神的家中只有仇恨。

耶和華說：“阿摩司，你看見甚麼？”我回答：“一籃夏天的果子。”他跟著對我說：“我民以色列的結局到了，我不再放過他們。

他們像纏結著的荊棘，像喝醉了的酒徒，又像枯乾的禾稭，全都被吞滅了。

但如果這塊地長出荊棘和蒺藜來，就被廢棄，近於咒詛，結局就是焚燒。
