The faithful have been swept from the land; not one upright person remains. Everyone lies in wait to shed blood; they hunt each other with nets.

Faithful people have disappeared from the land. Those who are honest are gone. Everyone hides and waits to spill the blood of others. They use nets to try and trap one another.

The godly has perished from the earth, and there is no one upright among mankind; they all lie in wait for blood, and each hunts the other with a net.

The godly people have all disappeared; not one honest person is left on the earth. They are all murderers, setting traps even for their own brothers.

for wicked men live among My people. They watch like fowlers lying in wait. They set a trap; they catch men.

Their feet run after evil, and they rush to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are sinful thoughts; ruin and wretchedness are in their paths.

If they say—“ Come with us! Let’s set an ambush and kill someone. Let’s attack some innocent person just for fun!

The fool says in his heart,“ God does not exist.” They are corrupt; they do vile deeds. There is no one who does good.The Lord looks down from heaven on the human race to see if there is one who is wise, one who seeks God.All have turned away; all alike have become corrupt. There is no one who does good, not even one.

They prepared a net for my steps; I was despondent. They dug a pit ahead of me, but they fell into it! Selah

Their quiver is like an open grave; they are all mighty warriors.

The Chaldeans pull them all up with a hook, catch them in their dragnet, and gather them in their fishing net; that is why they are glad and rejoice.That is why they sacrifice to their dragnet and burn incense to their fishing net, for by these things their portion is rich and their food plentiful.Will they therefore empty their net and continually slaughter nations without mercy?

who build Zion with bloodshed and Jerusalem with injustice.

as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one.There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.All have turned away; all alike have become useless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.Their throat is an open grave; they deceive with their tongues. Vipers’ venom is under their lips.Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.Their feet are swift to shed blood;ruin and wretchedness are in their paths,and the path of peace they have not known.There is no fear of God before their eyes.

See, my father! Look at the corner of your robe in my hand, for I cut it off, but I didn’t kill you. Look and recognize that there is no evil or rebellion in me. I haven’t sinned against you even though you are hunting me down to take my life.

So don’t let my blood fall to the ground far from the Lord’s presence, for the king of Israel has come out to search for a flea, like one who pursues a partridge in the mountains.”

The words of the wicked are a deadly ambush, but the speech of the upright rescues them.

“ I am about to send for many fishermen”— this is the Lord’s declaration—“ and they will fish for them. Then I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them down on every mountain and hill and out of the clefts of the rocks,

Our steps were closely followed so that we could not walk in our streets. Our end drew near; our time ran out. Our end had come!
