( 5: 1) As for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, seemingly insignificant among the clans of Judah– from you a king will emerge who will rule over Israel on my behalf, one whose origins are in the distant past.

“ But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

The Lord says,“ Bethlehem Ephrathah, you might not be an important town in the nation of Judah. But out of you will come for me a ruler over Israel. His family line goes back to the early years of your nation. It goes all the way back to days of long ago.”

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf.

Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah; one will come from you to be ruler over Israel for me. His origin is from antiquity, from ancient times.

But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will come forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His times of coming forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.”

“ But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”

But thou, Beth- lehem Ephrathah, which art little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall one come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.

Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah; One will come from you to be ruler over Israel for Me. His origin is from antiquity, from eternity.

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah,[ though] thou be little among the thousands of Judah,[ yet] out of thee shall he come forth unto me[ that is] to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth[ have been] from of old, from everlasting.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.

‘ And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,are in no way least among the rulers of Judah,for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”

Don’t the scriptures say that the Christ is a descendant of David and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”

Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king is coming to you: he is legitimate and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey– on a young donkey, the foal of a female donkey.

For a child has been born to us, a son has been given to us. He shoulders responsibility and is called: Extraordinary Strategist, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.His dominion will be vast and he will bring immeasurable prosperity. He will rule on David’s throne and over David’s kingdom, establishing it and strengthening it by promoting justice and fairness, from this time forward and forevermore. The LORD’s intense devotion to his people will accomplish this.

Listen: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end.”

A shoot will grow out of Jesse’s root stock, a bud will sprout from his roots.

Even before the mountains came into existence, or you brought the world into being, you were the eternal God.

Now David was the son of this Ephrathite named Jesse from Bethlehem in Judah. He had eight sons, and in Saul’s days he was old and well advanced in years.

“‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says:“‘ I will take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar and plant it. I will pluck from the top one of its tender twigs; I myself will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.I will plant it on a high mountain of Israel, and it will raise branches and produce fruit and become a beautiful cedar. Every bird will live under it; Every winged creature will live in the shade of its branches.All the trees of the field will know that I am the LORD. I make the high tree low; I raise up the low tree. I make the green tree wither, and I make the dry tree sprout. I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it!’”

The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs; the nations will obey him.

So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath( that is, Bethlehem).

But as for me, when I was returning from Paddan, Rachel died– to my sorrow– in the land of Canaan. It happened along the way, some distance from Ephrath. So I buried her there on the way to Ephrath”( that is, Bethlehem).

Then Jesus came up and said to them,“ All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

All the people who were at the gate and the elders replied,“ We are witnesses. May the LORD make the woman who is entering your home like Rachel and Leah, both of whom built up the house of Israel! May you prosper in Ephrathah and become famous in Bethlehem.

Though Judah was the strongest among his brothers and a leader descended from him, the right of the firstborn belonged to Joseph.)

Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer was the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah and the father of Bethlehem.

These were the descendants of Caleb. The sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrath: Shobal, the father of Kiriath Jearim,Salma, the father of Bethlehem, Hareph, the father of Beth-Gader.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David.He went to be registered with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him, and who was expecting a child.While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child.And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

“ To the angel of the church in Smyrna write the following:“ This is the solemn pronouncement of the one who is the first and the last, the one who was dead, but came to life:

He himself is before all things and all things are held together in him.

saying:“ Write in a book what you see and send it to the seven churches– to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”I turned to see whose voice was speaking to me, and when I did so, I saw seven golden lampstands,and in the midst of the lampstands was one like a son of man. He was dressed in a robe extending down to his feet and he wore a wide golden belt around his chest.His head and hair were as white as wool, even as white as snow, and his eyes were like a fiery flame.His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters.He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp double- edged sword extended out of his mouth. His face shone like the sun shining at full strength.When I saw him I fell down at his feet as though I were dead, but he placed his right hand on me and said:“ Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last,and the one who lives! I was dead, but look, now I am alive– forever and ever– and I hold the keys of death and of Hades!

So I chose as your tribal leaders wise and well-known men, placing them over you as administrators of groups of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens, and also as other tribal officials.

This is what we proclaim to you: what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and our hands have touched( concerning the word of life–

There was also an inscription over him,“ This is the king of the Jews.”

The LORD created me as the beginning of his works, before his deeds of long ago.From eternity I was appointed, from the beginning, from before the world existed.

But today you have rejected your God who saves you from all your trouble and distress. You have said,“ No! Appoint a king over us.” Now take your positions before the LORD by your tribes and by your clans.’”

He has a name written on his clothing and on his thigh:“ King of kings and Lord of lords.”

One of their own people will be their leader. Their ruler will come from their own number. I will invite him to approach me, and he will do so. For no one would dare approach me on his own. I, the LORD, affirm it!

In earlier times you established the earth; the skies are your handiwork.They will perish, but you will endure. They will wear out like a garment; like clothes you will remove them and they will disappear.But you remain; your years do not come to an end.

I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will rule over them all. They will never again be two nations and never again be divided into two kingdoms.They will not defile themselves with their idols, their detestable things, and all their rebellious deeds. I will save them from all their unfaithfulness by which they sinned. I will purify them; they will become my people and I will become their God.“‘ My servant David will be king over them; there will be one shepherd for all of them. They will follow my regulations and carefully observe my statutes.They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your fathers lived; they will live in it– they and their children and their grandchildren forever. David my servant will be prince over them forever.

Moses chose capable men from all Israel, and he made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

He will appoint for himself leaders of thousands and leaders of fifties, as well as those who plow his ground, reap his harvest, and make his weapons of war and his chariot equipment.

They began to accuse him, saying,“ We found this man subverting our nation, forbidding us to pay the tribute tax to Caesar and claiming that he himself is Christ, a king.”

“ In that day I will rebuild the collapsing hut of David. I will seal its gaps, repair its ruins, and restore it to what it was like in days gone by.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever!

But God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong.God chose what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something,

He sprouted up like a twig before God, like a root out of parched soil; he had no stately form or majesty that might catch our attention, no special appearance that we should want to follow him.

Locate precisely all the places where he hides and return to me with dependable information. Then I will go with you. If he is in the land, I will find him among all the thousands of Judah.”

For it is clear that our Lord is descended from Judah, yet Moses said nothing about priests in connection with that tribe.

Look, we heard about it in Ephrathah, we found it in the territory of Jaar.

Also take these ten portions of cheese to their commanding officer. Find out how your brothers are doing and bring back their pledge that they received the goods.

The sons of Salma: Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth Beth-Joab, half the Manahathites, the Zorites,

( Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover, about noon.) Pilate said to the Jewish leaders,“ Look, here is your king!”Then they shouted out,“ Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate asked,“ Shall I crucify your king?” The high priests replied,“ We have no king except Caesar!”Then Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus,and carrying his own cross he went out to the place called“ The Place of the Skull”( called in Aramaic Golgotha).There they crucified him along with two others, one on each side, with Jesus in the middle.Pilate also had a notice written and fastened to the cross, which read:“ Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews.”Thus many of the Jewish residents of Jerusalem read this notice, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the notice was written in Aramaic, Latin, and Greek.Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate,“ Do not write,‘ The king of the Jews,’ but rather,‘ This man said, I am king of the Jews.’”Pilate answered,“ What I have written, I have written.”

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God.The Word was with God in the beginning.All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.

But you choose from the people capable men, God-fearing, men of truth, those who hate bribes, and put them over the people as rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

So I went and buried them at Perath as the LORD had ordered me to do.Many days later the LORD said to me,“ Go at once to Perath and get the shorts I ordered you to bury there.”

I will set one shepherd over them, and he will feed them– namely, my servant David. He will feed them and will be their shepherd.I, the LORD, will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them; I, the LORD, have spoken!

He also said to me,“ It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water free of charge from the spring of the water of life.
