The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God.”

我破坏假先知的预兆，使占卜者显为愚妄；我颠覆了智慧人，使他们的知识变为愚拙；

扫罗求问耶和华，耶和华却没有藉着梦，或乌陵，或先知回应他。

坚持施行你的符咒和众多法术吧！那些都是你从年轻时辛劳所得的，或许你能得益处，或许还能让人恐惧呢！你因谋划过多而筋疲力尽；现在就让那些划分天象、观看星辰、在新月时说预言的都站出来吧，拯救你脱离那些将要临到你的事！看哪！他们必像麦秸一样被火烧毁，他们不能解救自己脱离威猛的火焰；这不是可以用来取暖的炭火，也不是可以坐在其面前的炉火。

扫罗就求问神：“我可以下去追赶非利士人吗？你会把他们交在以色列人手中吗？”那一天，神没有回应他。

从前在以色列，当有人去求问神的时候，会这样说：“走，我们到先见那里去吧！”今天的先知，从前称为先见。

扬尼和扬布列怎样抵挡摩西，这些人也照样抵挡真理；他们理性败坏，在信仰上经不起考验。然而，他们不能再进一步了，因为他们的无知会在众人面前显露出来，就像那两个人一样。

我们看不到自己的标帜，也不再有先知；在我们中间，没有人知道这要到什么时候。

撒母耳问扫罗：“你为什么搅扰我，招我上来呢？”扫罗回答：“我面临极大的危难：非利士人与我争战，神也离开了我，不再藉着先知或梦回应我。所以我召唤你来、指示我该怎么做。”

如果你们不把这梦显明给我，给你们的就只有一条法令。你们互相串通好了，要在我面前说谎言和乱语，直到时势有所改变。现在你们要把这梦告诉我，好让我知道你们能把梦的释义讲明给我。”那些迦勒底人在王面前回应说：“地上没有人能讲明王所要求的事；事实上，没有任何一个伟大、有权势的君王，向任何一个术士、占卜者或迦勒底人问过这样的事。王所问的事，是件难事，除了不与属肉体的人住在一起的神明，没有谁能在王面前讲明它。”
