The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God.”

Those who see visions will be put to shame. Those who try to figure out what is going to happen will be dishonored. All of them will cover their faces. I will not answer them.”

“到那日，假先知說預言的時候，每一個都必因自己所論的異象而羞愧；他們必不再穿獸毛衣服欺騙人。

我使說假話者的兆頭失效，使占卜者都變成愚昧人；我使有智慧的人後退，使他們的知識變為愚拙。

“身上患有痲風病的人，要撕裂自己的衣服，披頭散髮，遮蓋上唇喊叫：‘不潔淨！不潔淨！’

掃羅求問耶和華，耶和華卻沒有藉著夢，或烏陵，或先知回答他。

那時你們要照著我所行的去行；你們不可蒙著臉，也不可吃為喪家預備的食物。

“看哪！日子快到，這是主耶和華的宣告。我必使饑荒臨到這地，這饑荒不是因為沒有食物，這乾渴不是因為沒有水；而是因為聽不見耶和華的話。

繼續使用你從幼年時就勞碌施行的符咒和許多的邪術吧！或者你可以得到益處，也許你能叫人戰慄。你因你許多的計劃而勞累；現在讓那些劃分天象的，觀看星辰的，在月朔時說預言的，都站起來，拯救你脫離要臨到你身上的事。看哪！他們必像碎稭，火必要焚燒他們；他們不能救自己脫離火燄的威力；這不是可以烤火取暖的火炭，也不是可以坐在它面前的火。

只可靜默地歎息，不可為死人哀悼；你的頭上仍要纏著頭巾，腳上仍要穿著鞋子；你不可蒙著臉，也不可吃為喪家預備的食物。”

掃羅求問神：“我可以下去追趕非利士人嗎？你把他們交在以色列人的手裡嗎？”那天神沒有回答他。

從前在以色列中，有人去求問神的時候，就這樣說：“來，我們去見先見吧。”因為今天稱為先知的，從前稱為先見。

願萬國看見，就為自己的一切勢力而慚愧；願他們用手掩口，耳朵變聾。

眾術士因為生了瘡的緣故，不能站在摩西的面前；因為眾術士和所有埃及人身上都生了瘡。

從前閻儡和閻悖怎樣反對摩西，這些人也怎樣反對真理。他們的心思敗壞，信仰也經不起考驗。然而他們不能再這樣下去了，因為他們的愚昧終必在眾人面前顯露出來，好像那兩個人一樣。

我們看不見我們的記號，也不再有先知；我們中間也沒有人知道這災禍要到幾時。

撒母耳對掃羅說：“你為甚麼攪擾我，把我招上來呢？”掃羅說：“我非常苦惱，非利士人正在攻打我，神又離開了我，不再藉著先知或異夢回答我。所以我請你上來，指示我應該怎樣行。”

眾術士也用他們的巫術照樣行，要生出虱子來，卻不能辦到；所以在人身上和牲畜身上都有虱子。眾術士就對法老說：“這是神的手指頭。”法老卻心裡剛硬，不肯聽摩西和亞倫，就像耶和華所說的。

如果你們不把那夢向我說明，只有一個辦法對付你們。你們串通在我面前胡言亂語，希望時勢有所改變。你們現在要把夢告訴我，好使我知道你們真能把夢的意思向我解釋。”迦勒底人在王面前回答說：“世上沒有人能把王所問的事說出來，因為從來沒有一個偉大和有權勢的君王向術士、用法術的和迦勒底人詢問過這樣的事。王所問的事很難答，除了那不和世人同住的神明以外，沒有人能在王面前把這事說出來。”
