Get up, go away! For this is not your resting place, because it is defiled, it is ruined, beyond all remedy.

爾起而往、此非爾安息之所、污穢必敗壞之、其敗壞甚矣、

爾行穢濁、污衊斯土、故不得安居、當往他方、遭禍不淺、

爾曹當起而往、此非爾安居之地、因污穢故、必翦滅爾、翦滅殆盡、

Get up! Leave this land! It is no longer your resting place. You have made it‘ unclean.’ You have completely destroyed it.

Arise and go, for this is no place to rest, because of uncleanness that destroys with a grievous destruction.

Up! Begone! This is no longer your land and home, for you have filled it with sin and ruined it completely.

Get up and leave, for this is not your place of rest because defilement brings destruction— a grievous destruction!

“ Arise and depart, For this is not your rest; Because it is defiled, it shall destroy, Yes, with utter destruction.

Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your resting- place; because of uncleanness that destroyeth, even with a grievous destruction.

For this is what the Lord says:“ At this time I will hurl out those who live in this land; I will bring distress on them so that they may be captured.”

I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed.

But just as all the good things the Lord your God has promised you have come to you, so he will bring on you all the evil things he has threatened, until the Lord your God has destroyed you from this good land he has given you.If you violate the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, the Lord’s anger will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you.”

I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,“ So I declared on oath in my anger,‘ They shall never enter my rest.’” And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world.For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words:“ On the seventh day God rested from all his works.”And again in the passage above he says,“ They shall never enter my rest.”Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience,God again set a certain day, calling it“ Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:“ Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day.There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;

then I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. Israel will then become a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples.

“‘ Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.But you must keep my decrees and my laws. then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples.

“‘ Keep all my decrees and laws and follow them, so that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out.You must not live according to the customs of the nations I am going to drive out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them.But I said to you,“ You will possess their land; I will give it to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from the nations.“‘ You must therefore make a distinction between clean and unclean animals and between unclean and clean birds. Do not defile yourselves by any animal or bird or anything that moves along the ground— those that I have set apart as unclean for you.You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.

The sound of wailing is heard from Zion:‘ How ruined we are! How great is our shame! We must leave our land because our houses are in ruins.’”

I will cause people, my people Israel, to live on you. They will possess you, and you will be their inheritance; you will never again deprive them of their children.“‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because some say to you,“ You devour people and deprive your nation of its children,”therefore you will no longer devour people or make your nation childless, declares the Sovereign Lord.

In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and deported the Israelites to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, in Gozan on the Habor River and in the towns of the Medes.

“ Look up to the barren heights and see. Is there any place where you have not been ravished? By the roadside you sat waiting for lovers, sat like a nomad in the desert. You have defiled the land with your prostitution and wickedness.
