耶路撒冷王亞多尼·洗德便派遣使者去見希伯崙王何咸、耶末王毗蘭、拉吉王雅非亞和伊磯倫王底璧，說：

亞述的將軍聽說亞述王已經離開拉吉，便回去見王，發現王在攻打立拿。

可是有一件事我要責備你，就是你容許那自稱是先知的婦人耶洗別教導我的眾奴僕，引誘他們淫亂、吃祭過偶像的食物。

這事以後，耶羅波安沒有改邪歸正，他任命各種人做邱壇的祭司，不管誰想做祭司，他都封立他們。這罪使耶羅波安家走向沒落，最終徹底滅亡。

希西迦王執政第十四年，亞述王西拿基立起兵攻取了猶大所有的堅城。希西迦王差遣使者去拉吉見亞述王說：「我知罪了，求你退兵！我願意滿足你的任何要求。」亞述王向希西迦索要十噸銀子和一噸金子。

這一切都是因為雅各的叛逆，以色列家的罪惡。雅各的叛逆在哪裡呢？豈不是在撒瑪利亞嗎？猶大的邱壇在哪裡呢？豈不是在耶路撒冷嗎？

「她妹妹阿荷利巴看見這一切，不但沒有引以為戒，反而更加放蕩淫亂。

到了城外，其中一位天使說：「趕快逃！不要回頭看，也不要留在平原，要往山上逃，免得你們被毀滅。」

瑪得米納人逃跑，基柄人躲藏。

各城的人聽到騎兵和弓箭手的呐喊，都紛紛逃命。有的跑入叢林，有的爬進岩洞。各城荒棄，無人居住。

因為耶羅波安犯罪作孽，使以色列人陷入罪中，耶和華必拋棄以色列。」
