When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes,

When Jesus came to the leader’s house, He saw the flute players and a crowd lamenting loudly.

And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,

When Jesus entered the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the disorderly crowd,

When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd in noisy disorder,

耶穌還在說話的時候，有些人從會堂主管的家裡來，對睚魯說：「你的女兒已經死了，何必再麻煩老師呢？」耶穌卻當做沒聽見他們所說的話，對會堂主管說：「不要怕，只要信！」然後他除了彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰以外，不准別的人跟著。他們來到會堂主管的家裡，耶穌看見一片混亂，有人哭泣，有人哀號。耶穌進去對他們說：「為什麼慌亂哭泣呢？孩子不是死了，而是睡了。」他們就譏笑耶穌。耶穌把他們都趕出去，只帶著孩子的父母和一起來的人，進入孩子所在的地方。

耶穌還在說話的時候，有人從會堂主管的家來，對睚魯說：「你的女兒已經死了，不要再麻煩老師了。」耶穌聽了，就對睚魯說：「不要怕，只要信！她就會得救治。」耶穌來到他的家，除了彼得、約翰、雅各和孩子的父母以外，不准任何人與他一起進去。

耶穌正對他們講這些事的時候，忽然有一個會堂主管來拜他，說：「我的女兒剛才死了，求你來按手在她身上，她就會活了。」於是耶穌起身跟著他去，他的門徒們也跟著去了。

他們就好比：孩子們坐在街市上，彼此呼叫，說：『我們為你們吹笛，你們卻不跳舞；我們唱哀歌，你們也不哭泣。』

說：『我們為你們吹笛，你們卻不跳舞；我們唱哀歌，你們也不捶胸。』

彼得就起身陪他們一起去。到了以後，他們把他領到樓上的房間。所有的寡婦都站在彼得旁邊哭，把多卡絲與她們在一起的時候所縫製的衣服和袍子拿給他看。
