如果我们领受真理的知识以后仍故意犯罪，就不再有赎罪的祭物，惟有战战兢兢等候审判和那将吞灭众敌人的烈火了。任何人干犯摩西的律法，凭两个或三个证人，尚且必须处死，不得宽赦，更何况践踏神儿子的人，他们将那使他成圣之约的血当作不洁净，又亵慢施恩的圣灵的人，你们想，他不该受更严厉的惩罚吗？因为我们知道谁说：“伸冤在我，我必报应。”又说：“主要审判他的百姓。”落在永生神的手里真是可怕呀！

倘若他们因认识我们的主和救主耶稣基督而得以脱离世上的污秽，后来又被污秽缠住，被制伏，他们末后的景况就比先前更不好了。他们知道义路，竟背弃了传授给他们那神圣的诫命，倒不如不知道为妙。俗语说得好，这话正印证在他们身上了：“狗转过来吃自己所吐的；”又说：“猪洗净了，又回到烂泥里打滚。”

凡听见天国的道而不明白的，那恶者就来，把撒在他心里的夺了去；这就是撒在路旁的了。撒在石头地上的，就是人听了道，立刻欢喜领受，只因心里没有根，不过是暂时的，一旦为道遭受患难或迫害，立刻就跌倒。撒在荆棘里的，就是人听了道，后来有世上的忧虑、钱财的迷惑把道挤住了，结不出果实。

各人的工程必将显露，因为那日子要将它显明，有火把它暴露出来，这火要试炼各人的工程怎样。

他们诱惑我的百姓，说：‘平安！’其实没有平安，就像有人筑墙壁，看哪，他们倒去粉刷它。所以你要对那些粉刷的人说：‘墙要倒塌，暴雨漫过。你们大冰雹啊，要降下，狂风要吹裂这墙。’看哪，这墙倒塌，人岂不是要问你们说：‘你们所粉刷的在哪里呢？’”所以主耶和华如此说：“我要发怒，使狂风吹裂它，在怒中令暴雨漫过，又发怒降下大冰雹，毁坏它。我要这样拆毁你们那粉饰的墙，把它夷为平地，以致根基露出；墙一倒塌，你们也要在其中灭亡。你们就知道我是耶和华。我要对墙和粉刷它的人发尽我的愤怒，我要对你们说：‘墙没有了！粉刷它的人也没有了！’这就是以色列的先知，他们指着耶路撒冷说预言，见到这城平安的异象，其实没有平安。这是主耶和华说的。”

“污灵离了人身，走遍无水之地寻找安歇之处，却找不到。于是他说：‘我要回到我原来的屋里去。’他到了，看见里面空着，打扫干净，修饰好了，就去另带了七个比自己更恶的灵来，都进去住在那里。那人后来的景况比先前更坏了。这邪恶的世代也要如此。”
