For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

People who are ungodly run after all those things. Your Father who is in heaven knows that you need them.

For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.

For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

From men[ which are] thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world,[ which have] their portion in[ this] life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid[ treasure]: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their[ substance] to their babes.

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if[ he ask] a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall[ your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

But Jesus called them[ unto him], and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more[ than others]? do not even the publicans so?
