But Jesus said,“ It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him.

耶穌曰、今姑許我、我儕亦如是以盡諸義、乃許之、

耶穌曰、今姑吾許、吾儕當如是以盡禮、乃許之、

耶穌謂之曰、今姑許我、因我儕當如是以盡諸義、約翰乃許之、

耶穌應曰：『茲姑許之、聊以盡義。』如望乃許之。

Jesus replied,“ Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.

Jesus replied,“ Let it be this way for now. It is right for us to do this. It carries out God’s holy plan.” Then John agreed.

But Jesus answered him,“ Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented.

Jesus answered him,“ Allow it for now, because this is the way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John allowed him to be baptized.

But Jesus, answering, said to him,“ Allow it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he* allowed Him.

But Jesus answered and said to him,“ Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.

But Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffereth him.

Jesus answered him,“ Allow it for now, because this is the way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him to be baptized.

And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer[ it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

So Jesus replied to him,“ Let it happen now, for it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John yielded to him.

But Jesus, answering, said to him,“ Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.

Then Jesus explained:“ My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.

And the one who sent me is with me— he has not deserted me. For I always do what pleases him.”

Then I said,“ Look, I have come. As is written about me in the Scriptures:I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.”

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.

Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.

Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous in God’s eyes, careful to obey all of the Lord’s commandments and regulations.

Jesus replied,“ You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”“ No,” Peter protested,“ you will never ever wash my feet!” Jesus replied,“ Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to me.”Simon Peter exclaimed,“ Then wash my hands and head as well, Lord, not just my feet!”

Because he is righteous, the Lord has exalted his glorious law.

Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven.
