这些事以后，亚利马太的约瑟来求彼拉多，要把耶稣的身体领去。他是耶稣的门徒，只因怕犹太人，就暗地里作门徒。彼拉多准许了，他就把耶稣的身体领走。尼哥德慕也来了，就是先前夜里去见耶稣的那位，他带着约一百斤的没药和沉香。他们照犹太人丧葬的规矩，用细麻布加上香料，把耶稣的身体裹好了。在耶稣钉十字架的地方有一个园子，园子里有一座新墓穴，是从来没有葬过人的。因为那天是犹太人的预备日，而那坟墓又在附近，他们就把耶稣安放在那里。

到了晚上，因为这是预备日，就是安息日的前一日，有亚利马太的约瑟前来，他是尊贵的议员，也是盼望着上帝国的，他放胆进去见彼拉多，请求要耶稣的身体。彼拉多诧异耶稣已经死了，就叫百夫长来，问他耶稣是不是死了很久；既从百夫长得知实情，就把耶稣的身体赐给约瑟。约瑟买了细麻布，把耶稣取下来，用细麻布裹好，安放在岩石中凿出来的墓穴里，又滚来一块石头挡住墓门。抹大拉的马利亚和约西的母亲马利亚都看见安放他的地方。

有一个人名叫约瑟，是个议员，为人善良正直，却没有附从别人的所谋所为。他是犹太的亚利马太城人，素常盼望着上帝的国。这人去见彼拉多，请求要耶稣的身体。他把耶稣的身体取下来，用细麻布裹好，安放在凿岩而成的坟墓里；那坟墓从来没有葬过人。那日是预备日，安息日快到了。那些从加利利和耶稣同来的妇女跟在后面，看见了坟墓和他的身体怎样安放。她们就回去，预备了香料香膏。在安息日，她们遵照诫命安息了。

以法莲山区有一个拉玛的琐非人，名叫以利加拿，他是苏弗的玄孙，托户的曾孙，以利户的孙子，耶罗罕的儿子，是以法莲人。

随后他回到拉玛，因为他的家在那里；他在那里审判以色列人，并且在那里为耶和华筑了一座坛。
