這些事以後，有亞利馬太人約瑟——他是耶穌的門徒，卻因怕猶太人而隱密地做門徒——他求彼拉多讓他把耶穌的身體取去。彼拉多准許了，他就來，把耶穌的身體取去。又有尼哥底母、先前夜裏來見耶穌的、也來了，帶着沒藥和沉香的混合品、約有一百磅。他們領了耶穌的身體，就用細麻布加上香料綁好，照猶太人豫備安葬的規矩辦。在耶穌釘十字架的地方有個園子，園子裏有座新的墳墓，裏面沒有人安放過。就在那裏，為了猶太人之豫備日的緣故，因那墳墓相近，他們就把耶穌安放了。

已到傍晚，因為是豫備日，就是安息日的前夕，來了一個高貴的議員、亞利馬太人約瑟；他也是期望着上帝國的；他放膽進去見彼拉多，求耶穌的身體。彼拉多希奇、耶穌是不是已經死了，便把百夫長叫來，向他查問耶穌是不是已經死掉了些時候了。既從百夫長知道了，就將屍體賜給約瑟。約瑟買了細麻布，將耶穌取下來，用細麻布纏好了，把他安放在一個磐石中鑿出來的塋墓裏；又把一塊石頭輥來，擋住墳墓門。抹大拉的馬利亞和約瑟的母親馬利亞都看了他被安放的地方。

有一個人名叫約瑟，是個議員，是良善正義的人。這人並沒有附和眾人的計謀和行為。他是猶太的亞利馬太城的人，他素來期望着上帝的國。這人上去見彼拉多，求耶穌的身體。他把身體取下來，用細麻布裹好了，將他安放在一個石頭鑿成的塋墓裏，是從未有人安放過的。那一天是豫備日傍晚，安息日快到了。那些從加利利和耶穌一同來的婦女們跟隨着、看那墳墓，並看耶穌的身體怎樣地安放，然後回去，豫備香料香膏。安息日便遵照誡命靜歇着。

以法蓮山地有一個人屬於拉瑪地、是蘇弗人，他名叫以利加拿，是以法蓮人蘇弗的元孫，託戶的曾孫，以利戶的孫子，耶羅罕的兒子。

然後回到拉瑪，因為他的家在那裏；他也在那裏為以色列人審案；他並且在那裏給永恆主築了一座祭壇。
