But in front of all of them, Peter said he was not.“ I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said.

But he denied it before them all, saying,“ I do not know what you mean.”

But Peter denied it in front of everyone.“ I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said.

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars— they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

“ Whom have you so dreaded and feared that you have not been true to me, and have neither remembered me nor taken this to heart? Is it not because I have long been silent that you do not fear me?

“ Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered,“ this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”But Peter declared,“ Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.

Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble.

Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.

But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.

Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping.“ Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter.“ Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”He went away a second time and prayed,“ My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy.

Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor.

With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. He entered and sat down with the guards to see the outcome.

Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
