耶稣说：“你们这些律法师也有祸了！因为你们使人背负难挑的重担，但自己却连一根指头也不肯碰它们一下。

既然如此，你们现在为什么试探神，把我们的祖先和我们都担当不了的轭，放在那些门徒的脖子上呢？

事实上，那些受割礼的人自己也不遵守律法。他们要你们受割礼，是为了以你们的肉体夸耀。

“所有劳苦和背负重担的人哪，到我这里来吧！我将使你们得到安息。你们当负起我的轭，向我学，因为我心地柔和、谦卑。这样，你们就将寻得灵魂的安息。要知道，我的轭是容易负的，我的担子是轻省的。”

因为圣灵和我们都认为，除了以下几件必须遵守的事以外，不该把更多的重担加给你们：

“经文士和法利赛人哪，你们这些伪善的人有祸了！因为你们奉献薄荷、莳萝、香芹的十分之一，却放弃了律法上更重要的：就是公义、怜悯、信实。这些才是你们应该做的，至于前者也不可放弃。

至于你们其余在锡亚蒂拉的人，就是那些不接受这教训的、那些不知道所谓“撒旦深奥之事”的，我告诉你们：我不会把另一个重担放在你们身上。
