In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

It is the same with you. On the outside you seem to be doing what is right. But on the inside you are full of what is wrong. You pretend to be what you are not.

So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (niv)

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?“ I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.” (niv)

For out of the heart come evil thoughts— murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.” (niv)

For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come— sexual immorality, theft, murder,adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” (niv)

Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place. (niv)
