Let the unrighteous go on in unrighteousness; let the filthy still be filthy; let the righteous go on in righteousness; let the holy still be holy.”

And he told this parable:“ A man had a fig tree that was planted in his vineyard. He came looking for fruit on it and found none.He told the vineyard worker,‘ Listen, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it even waste the soil?’“ But he replied to him,‘ Sir, leave it this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.Perhaps it will produce fruit next year, but if not, you can cut it down.’”

The ax is already at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”

What more could I have done for my vineyard than I did? Why, when I expected a yield of good grapes, did it yield worthless grapes?Now I will tell you what I am about to do to my vineyard: I will remove its hedge, and it will be consumed; I will tear down its wall, and it will be trampled.

These people are dangerous reefs at your love feasts as they eat with you without reverence. They are shepherds who only look after themselves. They are waterless clouds carried along by winds; trees in late autumn— fruitless, twice dead and uprooted.

For the ground that drinks the rain that often falls on it and that produces vegetation useful to those for whom it is cultivated receives a blessing from God.But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and about to be cursed, and at the end will be burned.

Every branch in me that does not produce fruit he removes, and he prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce more fruit.

For if, having escaped the world’s impurity through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in these things and defeated, the last state is worse for them than the first.For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy command delivered to them.It has happened to them according to the true proverb: A dog returns to its own vomit, and,“ A washed sow returns to wallowing in the mud.”
