Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ I tell you the truth, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven!

Jesus said to his disciples,“ Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.

The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. (niv)

Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (niv)

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,“ How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” (niv)

Jesus looked at him and said,“ How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! (niv)

Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. (niv)

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. (niv)

When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down,and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied,then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock.He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.You may say to yourself,“ My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.”But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. “ There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with soresand longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.“ The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.So he called to him,‘ Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’“ But Abraham replied,‘ Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’“ He answered,‘ Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family,for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ (niv)

Jesus replied,“ Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” (niv)

Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. (niv)

But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? (niv)

Do not be overawed when others grow rich, when the splendor of their houses increases;for they will take nothing with them when they die, their splendor will not descend with them.Though while they live they count themselves blessed— and people praise you when you prosper—they will join those who have gone before them, who will never again see the light of life. (niv)

When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you— a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build,houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant— then when you eat and are satisfied,be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. (niv)

Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say,‘ Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God. (niv)

Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.But the rich should take pride in their humiliation— since they will pass away like a wild flower.For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business. (niv)

And he said:“ Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (niv)

For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. (niv)

Jesus answered,“ Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. (niv)

strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith.“ We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said. (niv)

Then he said to them,“ Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”And he told them this parable:“ The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest.He thought to himself,‘ What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’“ Then he said,‘ This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.And I’ll say to myself,“ You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’“ This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” (niv)

“ If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold,‘ You are my security,’if I have rejoiced over my great wealth, the fortune my hands had gained, (niv)

those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches?No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them— (niv)

“ No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. (niv)

“ Which of the two did what his father wanted?”“ The first,” they answered. Jesus said to them,“ Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. (niv)
