But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.

“但无论谁使信我的这些卑微人中的一个绊倒，对那人来说，倒不如脖子上被拴上大磨石，沉到深海里。

凡使這些信我的微小者之一個絆跌的，就使一塊驢牽的磨石掛在他的脖子上，沉在海洋裏，對於他還有益。

「但無論誰使信我的這些卑微人中的一個絆倒，對那人來說，倒不如脖子上被拴上大磨石，沉到深海裡。

陷信我小子之一者、寧以巨磨懸其頸、沉於深海、

若陷信我之小子於罪者、寧以巨磨懸其頸、沉於深海、○

凡使此信我之一小子、陷於罪者、寧以磨石懸其頸、沈於深海、

苟使信我之一介小子墮入罪中、不如磨石繫頸、沉諸淵海之為愈也。

“ If anyone causes one of these little ones— those who believe in me— to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

“ What if someone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin? If they do, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and be drowned at the bottom of the sea.

“ But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to fall away— it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned in the depths of the sea.

but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it is better for him that a heavy millstone be hung around his neck, and that he be drowned in the depths of the sea.

“ But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

but whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depth of the sea.

“ But whoever causes the downfall of one of these little ones who believe in Me— it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned in the depths of the sea!

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and[ that] he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

“ But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a huge millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the open sea.

but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck, and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea.

“ But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone hung around your neck.

One day Jesus said to his disciples,“ There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting!It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin.

So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.I know and am convinced on the authority of the Lord Jesus that no food, in and of itself, is wrong to eat. But if someone believes it is wrong, then for that person it is wrong.And if another believer is distressed by what you eat, you are not acting in love if you eat it. Don’t let your eating ruin someone for whom Christ died.

In his justice he will pay back those who persecute you.And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with his mighty angels,in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus.They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power.

In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.

“ Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.

But you must be careful so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble.For if others see you— with your“ superior knowledge”— eating in the temple of an idol, won’t they be encouraged to violate their conscience by eating food that has been offered to an idol?So because of your superior knowledge, a weak believer for whom Christ died will be destroyed.And when you sin against other believers by encouraging them to do something they believe is wrong, you are sinning against Christ.So if what I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat meat again as long as I live— for I don’t want to cause another believer to stumble.

“ Do not touch my chosen people, and do not hurt my prophets.”

Don’t give offense to Jews or Gentiles or the church of God.I, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. I don’t just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved.

We who are strong must be considerate of those who are sensitive about things like this. We must not just please ourselves.We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.For even Christ didn’t live to please himself. As the Scriptures say,“ The insults of those who insult you, O God, have fallen on me.”

“ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, the man who is my partner,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.“ Strike down the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn against the lambs.

It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble.

After a period of glory, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies sent me against the nations who plundered you. For he said,“ Anyone who harms you harms my most precious possession.

“ Who are you, lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied,“ I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting!
