設人有百羊而亡其一、爾意若何、豈不姑舍九十九羊於山、往覓其亡乎、若遇之、

爾意如何、人有百羊、迷失其一、豈不姑舍九十九羊於山、而往求其迷失者乎、或作豈不姑舍九十九羊而往於山求其迷失者乎

爾等於意云何、人有百羊而亡其一、有不暫留其九十九於山、而追尋其所失者乎：

「你們中間誰有一百隻羊，失去其中的一隻，不把這九十九隻留在曠野，去找那失去的羊，直到找着呢？找到了，他就歡歡喜喜地把羊扛在肩上。他回到家裏，請朋友和鄰舍來，對他們說：『你們和我一同歡喜吧，我失去的羊已經找到了！』我告訴你們，一個罪人悔改，在天上也要這樣為他歡喜，比為九十九個不用悔改的義人歡喜還大呢！」

牧人在羊羣四散的日子怎樣尋找他的羊，我必照樣尋找我的羊。這些羊在密雲黑暗的日子散在各處，我要從那裏救回牠們。

他們必不再作外邦人的掠物，地上的野獸也不再吞吃他們；他們卻要安然居住，無人使他們驚嚇。

我的羊流落眾山之間和各高岡上，分散在全地，無人去尋，無人去找。

我的百姓成了失喪的羊，牧人使他們走迷了路，轉入叢山之間。他們從大山走到小山，竟忘了自己安歇之處。

失喪的，我必尋找；被逐的，我必領回；受傷的，我必包紮；有病的，我必醫治；只是肥的壯的，我要除滅；我必秉公牧養牠們。』

「有一件事，你們的意見如何？一個人有兩個兒子。他來對大兒子說：『孩子，今天到葡萄園裏做工去。』

「我是好牧人，好牧人為羊捨命。雇工不是牧人，羊不是他自己的，他一看見狼來，就撇下羊羣逃跑；狼抓住羊，把牠們趕散。雇工逃走，因為他是雇工，對羊毫不關心。我是好牧人；我認識我的羊，我的羊也認識我，正如父認識我，我也認識父一樣；並且我為羊捨命。我另外有羊，不屬這圈裏的，我必須領牠們來，牠們也要聽我的聲音，並且要合成一羣，歸一個牧人。為此，我父愛我，因為我把命捨去，好再取回來。沒有人奪去我的命，是我自己捨的；我有權捨棄，也有權再取回。這是我從我父所受的命令。」猶太人為這些話又起了分裂。其中有好些人說：「他是被鬼附了，而且瘋了，為甚麼聽他的呢？」另有的說：「這不是被鬼附的人所說的話。鬼豈能開盲人的眼睛呢？」

耶穌對他們說：「你們中間誰有一隻羊在安息日掉在坑裏，不抓住牠，把牠拉上來呢？

你們從前好像迷路的羊，如今卻歸回你們靈魂的牧人和監督了。

我們都如羊走迷，各人偏行己路；耶和華使我們眾人的罪孽都歸在他身上。

我好像對精明人說的；你們要辨別我的話。

我走迷了路如同失喪的羊，求你尋找你的僕人，因我不忘記你的命令。

「論到基督，你們的意見如何？他是誰的後裔呢？」他們說：「是大衛的。」
