耶稣切切吩咐他们，命令他们不可把这事告诉任何人；又说：“人子必须受许多的苦，被长老、祭司长和文士弃绝，并且被杀，第三天复活。”

可是我告诉你们，以利亚已经来了，人不认识他，反倒任意待他。人子也将这样受他们的苦。”

她的父母非常惊奇；耶稣吩咐他们不要把所发生的事告诉任何人。

耶稣说：“狐狸有洞，天空的飞鸟有窝，人子却没有枕头的地方。”

又对他们说：“照经上所写的，基督必受害，第三天从死人中复活，并且人们要奉他的名传悔改、使罪得赦的道，从耶路撒冷起直传到万邦。

耶稣对他说：“你要注意，不可告诉任何人，只要去，让祭司为你检查，并献上摩西所吩咐的祭物，作为证据给众人看。”

当时，耶稣嘱咐门徒不可对任何人说他是基督。从那时起，耶稣才向门徒明说，他必须上耶路撒冷去，受长老、祭司长和文士许多的苦，并且被杀，第三天复活。

并要鞭打他，杀害他；第三天他要复活。”这些事门徒一点也不明白，这话的意思对他们是隐藏的；他们不知道所说的是什么。
