Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

不肯背起他的十字架跟从我的人不配做我的门徒。

若不背起自己的十字架跟从我，就不能做我的门徒。

既然基督曾在肉身上为你们受苦，你们也要怀着同样的心志，因为肉体受过苦的人已经与罪断绝了关系，可以在今后的生活中不再随从人的私欲，只服从上帝的旨意。

耶稣望着他，心中爱他，便说：“你还有一件事没有做，就是变卖你所有的产业，送给穷人，你必有财宝存在天上，然后你还要来跟从我。”

耶稣又教导众人说：“如果有人要跟从我，就应当舍己，天天背起他的十字架跟从我。因为想救自己生命的，必失去生命；但为了我而失去生命的，必得到生命。人若赚得全世界，却失去自己或丧掉自己，又有什么益处呢？如果有人以我和我的道为耻，将来人子在自己、天父和圣天使的荣耀中降临时，也必以这人为耻。我实在告诉你们，有些站在这里的人在有生之年就必看见上帝的国。”

其实凡立志在基督耶稣里过敬虔生活的人都会受到迫害。

祂叫众人和门徒一起过来，对他们说：“如果有人要跟从我，就应当舍己，背起他的十字架跟从我。

摩西长大成人后，凭信心拒绝做法老之女的儿子，宁愿与上帝的子民一同受苦，也不肯享受一时的罪中之乐。在他眼中，为基督所受的凌辱远比埃及的财富更有价值，因为他盼望的是将来的赏赐。

现在我因能够为你们受苦而欢喜，并且我是为基督的身体——教会的缘故，在自己身上补满基督未受的苦难。

坚固各地门徒的信心，鼓励他们要持守信仰，并且说：“我们在进入上帝国的道路上必经历许多苦难。”

耶稣背着自己的十字架出来，前往髑髅地，那地方希伯来话叫各各他。

免得有人因遭受这些患难而动摇，因为你们知道我们必遭受患难。

亚历山大和鲁孚的父亲古利奈人西门从乡下来，途经那地方，卫兵就强迫他背耶稣的十字架。

路上，他们遇见一个叫西门的古利奈人，就强迫他背耶稣的十字架。

他们带耶稣出去的时候，抓住从乡下来的古利奈人西门，让他背着十字架跟在耶稣后面。
