These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”

Nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those written in the Lamb’s book of life.

( For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, keeping the tradition of the elders.When they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they have washed. And there are many other customs they have received and keep, like the washing of cups, pitchers, kettles, and dining couches.)

When the Pharisee saw this, he was amazed that he did not first perform the ritual washing before dinner.But the Lord said to him,“ Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and evil.Fools! Didn’t he who made the outside make the inside too?

But the cowards, faithless, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars— their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s temple and that the Spirit of God lives in you?If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and that is what you are.

Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or males who have sex with males,no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom.And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup, so that the outside of it may also become clean.

Flee sexual immorality! Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the person who is sexually immoral sins against his own body.Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,for you were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body.

But sexual immorality and any impurity or greed should not even be heard of among you, as is proper for saints.Obscene and foolish talking or crude joking are not suitable, but rather giving thanks.For know and recognize this: Every sexually immoral or impure or greedy person, who is an idolater, does not have an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for God’s wrath is coming on the disobedient because of these things.

“ Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat.”
