有主的一個天使向他顯現，在香壇的右邊站着。撒迦利亞看見，就大為震盪，覺得懼怕。

我一看見他，就仆倒在他腳前，像個死人。他把右手按着我說：『別怕了；我是首先的，末後的，

她們很懼怕，就屈身將臉伏地；那兩個人對她們說：『為甚麼在死人中找活人呢？

恐懼戰兢臨到我身，使我百骨震顫。有微風從我面前掠過，我肉身的毫毛都倒豎起來。那微風停住。我卻不能辨認其形狀。有形像在我眼前；我聽見有低微的聲音說：

那女人看着掃羅，就大聲喊叫，對掃羅說：『你為甚麼哄騙我？你就是掃羅呀！』王對那女人說：『不要懼怕；你看見了甚麼？』那女人對掃羅說：『我看見有神魂從地裏上來。』掃羅問那女人說：『他的形狀怎樣？』那女人說：『有一個老人上來，身披長袍。』掃羅知道是撒母耳，就俯身，面伏於地而下拜。

他的身體如黃璧璽，他的面貌如閃電的形狀，他的眼睛像火把，他的手臂和腿像明亮的銅那麼閃耀；他說話的聲音就如蜂擁大眾的聲音。這景象、惟有我但以理獨自一人看見，同我在一起的人都沒有看見這景象；然而他們卻大大顫抖，逃跑去藏匿着。只剩下我獨自一人；我見了這大景象，便渾身全無餘力；我的美貌變色，力氣都持不住。我卻聽見他說話的聲音；我一聽見他說話的聲音，就伏臉、昏昏沉睡——臉伏至地。忽有一隻手跟我接觸，使我用膝蓋和手掌趴在地上而發抖震顫。他對我說：『大蒙眷愛的人、但以理啊，你要注意我所對你說的話，只管站起來，因為我現在是奉差遣來找你的。』他跟我說了這話，我便站起來、直哆嗦。他就對我說：『但以理啊，你不要懼怕，因為從你用心求明白這些事、又在你的上帝面前刻苦自己那頭一天起，你禱告的話就蒙應允；我就是因你的話而來的。

大家對她說：『你瘋了！』使女卻極力地說有這樣的事。他們就說：『那必是他的護衛天使了。』

於是耶穌敞開他們的心竅，使他們能曉悟經典。
