Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.

A man controlled by demons was brought to Jesus. The man was blind and could not speak. Jesus healed him. Then the man could speak and see.

to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ (niv)

Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out,“ You are the Son of God.” (niv)

News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them. (niv)

Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped.Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert. (niv)

While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed and could not talk was brought to Jesus.And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said,“ Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”But the Pharisees said,“ It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.” (niv)

A man in the crowd answered,“ Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech.Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”“ You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied,“ how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.Jesus asked the boy’s father,“ How long has he been like this?”“ From childhood,” he answered.“ It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”“‘ If you can’?” said Jesus.“ Everything is possible for one who believes.”Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed,“ I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit.“ You deaf and mute spirit,” he said,“ I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said,“ He’s dead.” (niv)
