When people attack you in one place, escape to another. What I’m about to tell you is true. You will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

“ What I’m about to tell you is true. Some who are standing here will not die before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

They got up and ran Jesus out of town. They took him to the edge of the hill on which the town was built. They planned to throw him off the cliff.But Jesus walked right through the crowd and went on his way.Then Jesus went to Capernaum, a town in Galilee. On the Sabbath day he taught the people.

As soon as it was night, the believers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. When they arrived, they went to the Jewish synagogue.

But he learned about their plan. Day and night they watched the city gates closely in order to kill him.But his followers helped him escape by night. They lowered him in a basket through an opening in the wall.

And Saul had agreed with the Sanhedrin that Stephen should die. On that day the church in Jerusalem began to be attacked and treated badly. All except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.

Right away the believers sent Paul to the coast. But Silas and Timothy stayed in Berea.

I tell you, God will see that things are made right for them. He will make sure it happens quickly. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find people on earth who have faith?”

Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium. They won the crowd over to their side. They threw stones at Paul. They thought he was dead, so they dragged him out of the city.The believers gathered around Paul. Then he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe.

But suppose that slave is evil. Suppose he says to himself,‘ My master is staying away a long time.’

So from that day on, the Jewish rulers planned to kill Jesus.Jesus no longer moved around openly among the people of Judea. Instead, he went away to an area near the desert. He went to a village called Ephraim. There he stayed with his disciples.

But Paul and Barnabas found out about the plan. They escaped to the Lycaonian cities of Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding area.There they continued to preach the good news.

Lightning that comes from the east can be seen in the west. It will be the same when the Son of Man comes.

“ Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven. At that time, all the peoples of the earth will mourn. They will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven. He will come with power and great glory.

So I am sending you prophets, wise people, and teachers. You will kill some of them. You will nail some to a cross. Others you will whip in your synagogues. You will chase them from town to town.

John had been put in prison. When Jesus heard about this, he returned to Galilee.

But the Jewish leaders stirred up the important women who worshiped God. They also stirred up the men who were leaders in the city. The Jewish leaders tried to get the women and men to attack Paul and Barnabas. They threw Paul and Barnabas out of that area.Paul and Barnabas shook the dust off their feet. This was a warning to the people who had opposed them. Then Paul and Barnabas went on to Iconium.

“ So keep watch. You do not know the day or the hour that the groom will come.

At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud. He will come with power and great glory.

Again they tried to arrest him. But he escaped from them.Then Jesus went back across the Jordan River. He went to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed.Many people came to him. They said,“ John never performed a sign. But everything he said about this man was true.”And in that place many believed in Jesus.

“ You have said so,” Jesus replied.“ But here is what I say to all of you. From now on, you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One. You will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven.”

But the Pharisees went out and planned how to kill Jesus.Jesus knew all about the Pharisees’ plans. So he left that place. A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were sick.

When the Wise Men had left, Joseph had a dream. In the dream an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph.“ Get up!” the angel said.“ Take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you to come back. Herod is going to search for the child. He wants to kill him.”

After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He didn’t want to travel around in Judea. That was because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him.

“ At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds. He will come with great power and glory.

All the trouble came to an end. Then Paul sent for the believers. After encouraging them, he said goodbye. He then left for Macedonia.
